Poacher Hunters The Djinn Trials Volume 2 Mr Jack Thanatos Books Reviews
This is my first Jack Thanatos book and I am very impressed. Aside from the title I knew nothing about the book and that it involved international locations. On account of that I felt I shared a lot of the main protagonist's confusion as the story unfolded around him.
It made me almost think of the novel The Glory Road by Robert Heinlein, in that it is a supernatural tale or heroism.
I also was thinking of the Blue Ant trilogy by William Gibson on account of the mysterious benefactor, with near limitless resources that can be called upon to achieve your goals.
I was also pleased that the ending came as a complete surprise (no spoilers)
The characters were an interesting blend of personalities which I think worked well together. I would hope to read the sequel if there is one in the pipeline.
"Poacher Hunters" is the latest from Jack Thanatos The Djinn Trials; this time saving the animals by hunting the hunters. Starting with a scene reminding me of a Marvel movie that got it right we meet our hero Belial. Confused at the new powers given to him suffering from Djinn Sickness he's met by Eris, so sweet, so young so where the hell did she get that gun it's bigger than she is OMG!?!
Travel pet a hippo, take out some really really really bad people, wonder what in the world is wrong with you, mingle with the natives. First you'll need a disguise. The legend of The "Tokoloshe" will do, (penis enhancement optional but not mandatory). Also don't rub your eyes!
Penis jokes & body count aside. Poacher Hunters had me laughing, excitingly wanting to see what happens next and wishing I'd done more for my first pet turtle. The language is familier and not too easy or boring. The characters are what you want in real life and just enough fantasy with an anchor say from John Wick?
As always a bit of mythology, history, and many other disciplines/studies etc... the author always incorporates into his books mix very well. You will meet others in the Oneiroi that have the same mission just different abilities & backgrounds to accomplish whatever it takes to save the animals we love so dearly. Could you do it, become the animal that protects others by doing the very thing you despise the most?
Pick up your pet hedgehog Honey now pick up Poacher Hunters.
Get down with the sickness, Djinn Sickness.
This book surprised a few laughs out of me in some places just because some scenes were so deliciously bizarre! I mean, the Tokoloshe is probably one of the best things Jack has come up with. It was weird, creepy and, I'm sorry, but I laughed at some of the reactions it got. Like Azazel, I like how fluid and fast-moving this book was. We go all over the place in this one, and it makes everything actually more interesting. The scenes in Johannesburg were especially well-written and set a perfect scene.
Various guns? Hell yes.
Various melee weapons? Hell yes.
Various supernatural abilities? Hell yes.
Various acts of violence? Hell yes.
Expensive vehicles? Hell yes.
Basically, it has everything a growing boy needs. Even some good old fashioned dirty humor.
This is the second book I've read by Jack Thanatos, and once again I was not disappointed. I would only recommend reading through "Azazel" first before reading through "Poacher Hunters", as some of the references to past events may otherwise be confusing for those who are new to his work. However, it should be easy to pick up even for those who have never read his work before; it is still easy to follow and the pace of the story is just right.
You will not be bored. Buy this book and enjoy the hell out of it.
Not very good
I wanted to like this book. Story progressed in an unusual way. But the writing style was so choppy and forced it was hard to enjoy. I wouldn't recommend the book.
Another addition to The Djinn Trails, Poach Hunters is here and I'm loving it!! A bit of a turn from previous books, this takes a very interesting run into bad VS. worse!! Who doesn't love to read about bad things happening to very bad people?! With special powers, a girl with guns and a Tokoloshe this is quite an adventure!!
This is an amazing read--violent, delightful, with an ending that will make the most vicious poacher hater smile. The story flows, the dialogue and character interaction is flawless, and anyone who hates the word bae like I do is automatically my hero. A must-read, 5-star wild ride--I enjoyed every page!
